Using ‘and/or’ in an academic manuscript is seen as unprofessional. ‘Or’ is generally the correct replacement for ‘and/or,’ although assess each situation for which fits better. You can easily find instances of using ‘and/or’ by using your word processor’s find feature (Ctrl+f or Cmd+f).
